One of the most important cricket series that fans around the World will be watching and analyzing closely is the India vs South Africa Test Series, which is apart of the ICC World Test Championship. While the Proteas have called in their Regular captain for for this series, the Indian squad has also made changes in the squad — sending out the under-performers and calling in the ones in good form. Due to this reason, it has been speculated that the Live Cricket Score of the series is going to followed closely as India is at the top of the Points Table of the Championship while South Africa will be starting their journey in the Tournament by this series.
The Test Series will begin on 2 October 2019, according to the India vs South Africa Schedule and it seems difficult that the rising star Shubhman Gill will be able to secure a place in the playing XI in the first match itself. Whether or not Shubman Gill gets to make his Test debut depends a lot on how the other batsmen in the team perform against the Proteas in the series. Since Shubman Gill has been called in as a replacement for KL Rahul, whose spot is likely to be filled in the Playing XI by the Hitman, Rohit Sharma who has had his long wait on the West Indies tour of India.
As for Shubman Gill, he has been selected in the Test squad for his eminent performance in the previous series’ where he managed the scores of 90, 204, 62, 77, 69 and 40 while playing for India A. He has proved that his skills with the bat have sharpened with time, with him becoming the youngest indian to score a First Class Double Century against West Indies A. Taking a brief look at how the Indian batsmen have been performing in the past Tests, the replacement in the playing XI has already been made, and that is not Shubman Gill for sure.
India being at the top of ICC World Test Championship points table would want Rohit Sharma to open the innings alongside Mayank Agrawal, who has shown maturity with the bat despite having an experience of just 4 matches. The Number 3 and Number 4 spots are all set for Cheteshwar Pujara and the Skipper Virat Kohli respectively, both of who have not shown any reason to be sent out of the playing XI. Also, the middle order is dominated by the likes of experienced and enthusiastic players such as Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant, who are already doing well in Test matches for India.
Hence, with batting order being packed right from the top to number 7, it is likely that Shubman Gill will be sitting on the benches in the initial matches of the series. However, in the case of any of these seven players going injured or ruled out of the series for any other reason, the odds will be in favour of this rising star.
